On 15th November 2022, we were glad to have witnessed another successful switch on for our latest cochlear implant client, Aisha.

What is switch on? About four weeks after the Cochlear implant surgery, the audio processors are fitted and activated in order for the recipient of the implant to begin hearing sounds.

This is many times an emotional experience for the patient and their family because they are hearing sounds for the first time. Patients react differently to this new sensation. Some are overjoyed and wear big smiles while others are shocked and take time to actually process this new sensation of sound.

We congratulate Aisha upon this milestone and wish her and her family the very best during the next steps of speech therapy.
