Dr. Edward Turitwenka is one of the directors and a Treasurer at Kampala Audiology and Speech Centre (KASC). He has over 30 years of experience in private and public Healthcare Institutions as an ENT Surgeon, Lecturer as well as serving in various leadership positions. Currently, he works as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Nakasero Hospital Kampala and Tays Consultation Clinic which he founded.
He holds a Master of Medicine (ENT) from Makerere University, Kampala and a Master of Science in Audiology from Manchester University (United Kingdom). He also holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Makerere University, Kampala and a Post Graduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine at London School of Tropical Medicine & Health, United Kingdom.
During his tenure of service, Dr. Turitwenka worked as Senior House Officer and Medical Officer Special Grade at Mulago Hospital, Kampala as a House Officer in Surgery at Mengo Hospital and at Internal Medicine at Mulago Hospital, Kampala. He has also worked as a Deputy Medical Superintendent at Kisiizi Hospital, Rukungiri before he was promoted to Medical Superintendent at the same hospital. In his early years, he worked as Medical Officer, Kabale Hospital and Kisiizi Hospital, Kabale and Rukingiri respectively.
He has authored a number of research works which includes:
- Noise and its effects on workers in 1992, ABR and Pure-tone Thresholds in 1995,
- Prevalence of Hearing Impairment in Ugandan Children in 1999
-as well as supervising numerous research projects for graduate and post graduate students
